Sue Chandler, MPH, MSW ~ Executive Director
Sue Chandler was named Executive Director of DOVE February 1, 2010. Ms. Chandler brings over two decades of non-profit leadership and management to her role. She earned her undergraduate degree at Bowdoin College in Maine, Master of Public Health and Master of Social Work degrees at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and completed a Certificate Program in Nonprofit Management & Leadership through the Boston University School of Management Executive Leadership Program in 2011. Ms. Chandler has long served on the Governor's Council to Address Sexual and Domestic Violence, Neighborhood Health Plan's Domestic Violence Advisory Council, and the Board of Directors of Emerge, the nation's first batterer intervention program. Immediately prior to her appointment at DOVE, she was the Director of the Community Advocacy Program (CAP) of CCHERS, Inc., in Boston, a partnership of community health center-based domestic violence programs serving Dorchester and Roxbury. A native of Maine, Ms. Chandler currently resides on the South Shore.
Dawn Hayes ~ Director of Development & Communications
DOVE's Director of Development & Communications, Dawn Hayes, joined DOVE in April, 2014. Before joining DOVE, she served as the Event Planner for Father Bill's & MainSpring in Quincy and as the Associate Director of Development at Riverside Community Care in Dedham. As a television spokesperson, voiceover artist, and actor for more than a decade, Dawn was the television spokesperson for the MA State Lottery for 15 years and is instantly recognizable to many New Englanders. This, combined with her development expertise, allows Dawn to bring an enthusiasm to DOVE that helps it fulfill its important mission to promote hope, healing, safety, and social change for those impacted by domestic violence. Additionally, Dawn is active in local professional organizations such as the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP), earning a coveted spot in its Diversity Fellows Program in 2009. A graduate of Emerson College in Boston and a native of New York City, Dawn and her family call the South Shore their home.
Jessica Cohen ~ Senior Manager, Residential Services
Jessica Cohen, a native of the South Shore, joined the DOVE team in June of 2010. Jessica holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Children and Trauma from Pine Manor College. Upon graduation, Ms. Cohen joined the staff of The Second Step, a transitional living program for survivors of domestic violence. From 2004-2010, she held a variety of positions focused on supporting children and families. In learning about the work of other domestic violence service programs, she was struck by the similarities and challenges among residential programs and became determined to support survivors using their voices to inform and guide program and service delivery. In her current role with DOVE, Jessica is able to work with the staff and program participants to craft a supportive environment that promotes honesty, accountability, and growth.
Kathleen Lydon ~ Senior Manager, Community Services
Kathleen Lydon earned her undergraduate degree at Providence College and holds a Master of Social Work degree from Wheelock College. Kathleen has a background in working with at-risk adolescents, many of whom have been exposed to violence; additionally she has experience working with victims and survivors of sexual assault. Kathleen shares DOVE's mission to provide strengths-based, empowerment-focused and trauma-informed services. Kathleen's work with DOVE began in 2009 as a Social Work Intern and subsequently a community-based Advocate. She assumed her current position in 2012.
