Volunteer
DOVE, Inc.'s Volunteer Program provides an opportunity for concerned community members to begin to end domestic violence. Volunteers are a vital part of the DOVE team and make it possible for DOVE to provide life saving services to countless victims and survivors of domestic violence.
Volunteers are involved in all aspects of the agency from direct client services to fundraising to serving on the Board of Directors. DOVE offers two types of volunteer placements: Direct Service (working directly with adults and children) and non-direct service.
Direct Service Volunteer Opportunities
Direct service placements involve working with the women, children and men utilizing our services. Direct Service placements may include:
- Answering the 24-hour hotline/ providing office support;
- Assisting with or facilitating children's playgroups;
- Facilitating basic computer training sessions;
- Facilitating support groups;
- Facilitating financial self-sufficiency sessions.
Non-Direct Service Volunteer Opportunities
Non-direct service placements are great for individuals waiting to complete our Domestic Violence Awareness Training. These placements are also ideal for individuals with limited hours available to volunteer. Non-direct Service placements may include:
- Local community brochure/flyer distribution;
- Assisting with bulk mailings;
- Assisting with the collection and sorting of donations;
- Assisting with fundraising;
- Participating on our Board of Directors or other steering committees;
- Community outreach through presence at community events.
